Kelli Ireland spent a decade as a name on a door in corporate America. Unexpectedly liberated by Fate's dark and warped sense of humor, she chose to carpe the diem and pursue her passion for writing. A fan of happily-ever-afters, she found she loved being the Puppet Master for the most unlikely couples. Seeing them through the best and worst of each other while helping them survive the joys and disasters of falling in love? Best. Thing. Ever. She exercises her total love the of the HEA (happily-ever-after) by writing both contemporary and paranormal romance novels.
But Kelli has a dark side, too. It's a side that requires nurturing and periodic outlets or bad things happen to her husband--pictures of him sleeping that he refuses to see the humor in, tape on the cats' feet, bird calls at 2 a.m. and...more. That's why she also writes urban fantasy. It's an escapist thing, a way to let her imagination go as wild as it dare go, letting it world build, create a variety of characters that don't all have to be redeemed and to create that slow burn of romance across a couple of books before the actual consummation of a relationship between hero and heroine. But just because the build is slower, don't expect the results to be cooler. Trust her when she says she has to, on occasion, rein herself in. Slow burns are the best.
Kelli is also an absolute series addict. That means she rarely writes a stand alone book. Not that her series can't be read as stand alone (except the urban fantasies, which are best read in order), but she loves the way her literary heroes-- authors like Larissa Ione, Gena Showalter and Vivian Arend--take their series and draw them out to give readers far more intimate relationships with the characters inside their worlds.
