I have to admit I'm a bit disturbed today. Okay, okay. More disturbed than usual. That's a whole new level of disturbing, my friends. See, I was updating my website and had to open the calendar to look for release dates. This happened:

All Good Things...You Know How This Ends

It's that old saying: All good things must come to an end. For the record? I hate that saying. Mostly because it's true. I'm a little melancholy today because I'm getting words in on the third Covington brothers' book, COWBOY STRONG. It's Ty's book, and I have to admit a certain fondness for this cowboy in particular. He's so full of life and joy, fun and humor. To put him through what I'm putting him through? Ouch. It's really making me wonder what type of sadistic beast writing has turned me into. But it seems the more you wound a character, the better their redemption is in the end.

Maybe that's what I want to talk about. Do you think that's a true statement--the more you wound a character, the better their redemption is? I'm caught wondering how that translates to life, as well. Do the Fates, who see life with all its joy and heartache, dole out bits of heartache as they weave the threads of our lives, or do they sometimes determine a long-running hardship is better to teach us the lessons we need to learn? It's so hard to tell most days.

As I write Ty's book, it has stirred up a great deal of personal hurt for me. It's the first time a book has taken me this far down the rabbit hole. Okay, maybe not "taken me" but rather chased me, claws extended, a growl resonating deep in its throat. I'm struggling to keep myself rational, have cried more than once, and I'm only on chapter six. This either bodes really well for the story or it's a sentence equatable to doom. DOOM I SAY! Heh. We authors are so freakin' melodramatic. LOL

Regardless, I'm making headway on the story and have a great deal left to do, so I need to get to it. I have the final galley on Cade's story in my hot little hands and need to get it turned around. But let me tell you, I'm seriously fond of his story, too. Cade's a man who deserves to be loved, and the heroine, Emmaline, is the perfect woman for him.

So I'm off to make words. I think I'll give away a couple of early copies of the first Wild Western Heat (Covington brothers) book, A COWBOY RETURNS. Drop a comment below about why cowboys make good heroes. I'll use www.random.org to pick a couple of winners. :)

Until next time,
Kelli
